The Beacon Centre at Blackburn College provides 8,600m² of valuable teaching, library, social and administrative accommodation on a constricted island site.

Multiple specialisms at DLA Architecture came together to design and deliver the £13.5 million project with a brief that aspired to BREEAM ‘Excellent’ status with low capital and running costs, whilst acting as the central hub to tie together a fragmented campus. This community spirit was defined within the building as fluid transparent spaces encouraging student interaction.
