Working as part of a development team, DLA were successfully selected to refurbish and redevelop the Bretton Hall Campus in Wakefield. The proposals included the conversion of a Grade II* listed historic mansion, including a new contemporary extension to provide a hotel and luxury spa. The scheme also envisaged an Education Centre with studio space for artists, designers and media companies, along with the conversion of a former Leeds University Building to provide conferencing facilities.
Key to the design is the reconnection of the site and facilities with the adjacent Yorkshire Sculpture Park and the integration of public art into the landscape and buildings.
DLA Design secured planning approval for a 120 bedroom hotel, including 40 rooms located within the listed building.
