Centenary Square will act as a catalyst for positive cultural transformation and inspiration at the heart of Birmingham. DLA Landscape & Urban Design team’s competition entry aimed to unify the space around key nodes, creating flexibility and a variety of scales. Our submission incorporated a multi-cultural, multi-layered and multi-media place, embracing the changing technological landscape where the nature of information transfer has become decreasingly constrained by convention.

The design concept was grounded in the idea that knowledge, ideas and opinions flow with increasing velocity, accessibility and freedom, allowing people exponentially greater opportunities to connect, innovate, and to challenge perceptions.

Our vision was to create a public space to spark the imagination, encourage discourse and influence creative solutions.
