Redevelopment of a brownfield site within easy walking distance of the historic city of Durham providing high quality student accommodation. The site is surrounded by Green Belt and lies within the city centre Conservation Area. A scheduled ancient monument, the Chapel of St Mary Magdalene, lies immediately to the south and the site needed to be considered within the context of the Durham World Heritage site designation. These constraints led to extensive discussions and negotiations with English Heritage, the LPA Planning & Conservation Officers and local residents. The scheme was completed in August 2016.
