In 2000, Cathedral Group PLC bought the Coronet Cinema in Eltham, a Grade II listed building. Over many years various options for developing the site were proposed, but none were financially viable. Consequently the Coronet stood empty.

In July 2007 Cathedral Group asked DLA Architecture to develop a high-quality and imaginative mixed-use scheme – a scheme to unlock the site – which could be both supported and delivered. In October 2008, following extensive consultation with English Heritage and local community groups, Greenwich Planning Board voted unanimously to grant consent. The first 3 phases have been completed.
