The Farnley Estate has appointed DLA Design to undertake a wide ranging assessment of this historic estate within its local and regional context. The brief asks us to provide both an initial appraisal and a longer term vision for the Farnley Estate over a twenty five year plan period, providing a vision for the estate designed to promote a sustainable future around Farnley.

The vision considers the social, economic and cultural aspirations of the estate and makes a series of recommendations to help fulfil these ambitions.

Key aspects of the vision include the creation of a major new country park which will provide tremendous amenity value to both Kirklees residents and visitors to the area. The appraisal will also consider the estates capacity to help meet Kirklees Council’s new homes requirement and the provision of new leisure and local employment opportunities.
