HILDERTHORPE 2FE & NURSERY : BRIDLINGTON

Sectors : Learning

Client : Elliott Group Ltd

As the first school completed on the DfE Mod A primary schools framework Hilderthorpe sees the provision of a 420 place school and a 29 place nursery. The school is delivered using a mixture of volumetric modular building and transformational offsite construction techniques underpinning the requirements set by the DfE in this framework. The school has been delivered to be aligned with the DfE’s Output Specification (OS) and School Specific design brief.

The early years foundation (EYFS) part of the school has both a reception and nursery provision. allowing development and learning to be shared on pier (and buddy) basis from an early age. Due to the proportion of high needs/ special educational needs (SEN) pupils the school also has direct access to an outdoor area for all EYFS and KS1 children. The early years and nursery use the outdoor part of their learning environment alongside the values the principles of a forest school, allowing nature and the outdoor environment to drive the pedagogical approach to teaching and learning.

This nursery cluster is designed to be offset at the end of a school. Allows the nursery to have its own clear identity with a visual and physical connection to the main school. Each nursery houses a range of facilities to allow integrated nursery services balancing against the needs of safety, security and accessibility. The scheme accommodates, a main nursery play and learning room, a group space, offices, wc’s and a hygiene room, transitional areas and links to a direct outdoor learning environment.
