DLA were invited by GB Building to support a tender bid to deliver a £5.5 million project for the University of Huddersfield known as Larchfield Mills.
The completed building now provides the University of Huddersfield with their Enterprise and Innovation Centre and has been named ‘The 3M Buckley Innovation Centre’.
The development was funded through the European Regional Development Fund and aims to provide a unique environment in which to support companies linked to the University to help foster growth and economic regeneration to the Huddersfield area.
It amalgamates all the elements required for business growth in one place, providing access to markets, finance, technology, skills and business support services. The centre, which includes offices and laboratories along with conference facilities, aims to enable University researchers to engage directly with industry to maximise the impact of their research and development activities. It also aims to provide the infrastructure and resources to promote knowledge transfer and collaborative project work between the University and external business partners.
Occupiers include ‘National Physics Laboratories’ and ‘Trac Engineering’ and other small and medium enterprises also established themselves in some of the smaller office and laboratory units. The completed works were well received by the University.
