This project sits adjacent to a wider regeneration of Shirley High street. The site currently has a 12 storey office block that is no longer in occupation, but sets the precedent for a tower solution as part of the overall development.

The DLA scheme to provide 260 two bedroom senior living apartments above a 2,500sqm village, won the design based mini-competition and received great praise from the client who was “incredibly impressed” with DLA’s approach to the scheme. This scheme is the first to properly consider high rise development with a tower solution for part of the residential accommodation. In addition, the village centre is to link to the High Street and form a gateway to the commercial and retail uses further along the street. This gives a fantastic opportunity to provide a truly outward looking centre to promote a community focused facility
