During 2010’s Summer of Culture Wakefield arts organisations Beam, Faceless, The Art House, Theatre Royal Wakefield, Yorkshire Sculpture Park and The Hepworth Wakefield, along with Wakefield Council, collaborated and worked with the general public to generate ideas, designs and models through artistic activities around the themes of movement, migration and home.
The aim of Generator was to create an ‘object’ that stimulates debate about culture and creativity that the 5 key clients would animate through theatre, art, dance and engaging activities.
DLA undertook a series of creative workshops with the Arts Groups to design a structure that toured many events in Wakefield and that was exhibited at the Orangery in September 2010.
The collaboration between the arts group and DLA Architecture saw a proposal turn into a physical object that stimulated debate and created an enclosure in which people could work, play and discuss.
