THE ORRERY : LEICESTER

The Orrery Centre is located next to the National Space Centre and was commissioned to provide specific accommodation for the space industry, and attract investment in this sector to Leicester. A planning application was submitted, which comprised five separate buildings laid out in an innovatively designed parkland setting. The overall area of office accommodation is 116,250 sqft with the aim to provide BREEAM excellent rating throughout.

The Orrery is the central building within the scheme and utilises innovative glass techniques to create mystery and as sense of ‘other worldliness’. The concept of The Orrery is derived from the relationship of the area with space exploration and as an illustrative mechanical model of the solar system.
