Client : Specialist Autism Services (SAS) & DLA Design
DLA Design staff teamed up with charity Specialist Autism Services (SAS) this Christmas to focus our design and build skills on creating a Christmas Lego scene for the window of our Head Office in Leeds during December, inspired by the theme ‘Santa’s Workshop’.
The display grew throughout the month up to Christmas with the results shared on social media using the hashtag #TheLEGOWorkshop. The DLA staff team worked with adult users from SAS, young people from Leeds Art Gallery, staff from Bureau Veritas, and the children of DLA staff, to create the display.
Updates were shared throughout December @DLADesignGroup #TheLEGOWorkshop
Specialist Autism Services is a non-profit organisation that works for and with adults on the autism spectrum across Yorkshire, spreading autism awareness nationally. They make a positive difference to the lives of their members and through person-centred support they create opportunities for people to build confidence, develop social skills, increase independence and fulfil their potential. SAS promote the Autism Bricks UK Service, which sells new as well as preloved bricks, restoring them to their former glory so that they can continue to be enjoyed. They use these recycled bricks to provide a range of LEGO® related services. As a social enterprise, all of their profits are reinvested in the organisation and used to fund the support of adults with autism.
#BuildtoGive – Through our project we are also encouraging the use of the #BuildToGive hashtag – an international campaign run by LEGO where Lego Christmas ornaments are built and then shared online using the #BuildToGive hashtag. For every ornament built and shared, LEGO donate a set to a child in need of play.
