Client : GL Hearn / ASDA
DLA were appointed by Asda in May 2013 following a successful feasibility bid with GL Hearn to develop proposals for a residential-led mixed use development. The brownfield site is most prominently recognised by the community as the former Albert Road Gas Works. Due to the nature of the former industrial use and the level of residual contamination, the proposals provide for a full and complete remediation to standards appropriate for residential and associated use.
DLA worked closely with the London Borough of Barnet Planners, Residents and Local Politicians over an 18 month period before the scheme received Planning Permission for 306 residential units ranging from 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments and maisonettes to 2 and 4 bedroom houses. The proposals also include a small amount of retail and commercial space with a residents gym, concierge, café and crèche proposed, along with a new public open spaces and improved pedestrian links between the park and the local centre.
