Construction is now underway at Eden Parade, Beckenham, Kent demolishing six existing lock-up units and garages making way for a new row of quality terraced housing. The main idea behind the design was to adapt the scheme/geometry to the surroundings emphasising the rhythm and relationship with adjacent buildings as well as exploring the dichotomy between the street (public) and back garden (private). It is more close, content and figurative to the streetscape and more abstract, open and organic to the back garden. There is also an important staggered move in plan that responds to the idea of separating street and back garden as well adapting it to the site.
