Job Role: Associate Architect
Damian is an associate who has worked in the London studio for over 15 years, developing his skills in masterplanning across all sectors. He has worked closely with Borough Market developing a variety of projects to assist the trust in improving the estate. The new Market Hall project created a much needed space for events, teaching and a place to dwell.
He has also worked in many areas of education including schools, Higher Education and Further Education. In particular he has led the team developing the phased masterplan for Oaklands College creating much needed new teaching environments across the new campus of buildings.
His favourite DLA Project is Mount St. Mary’s Church which involved the refurbishment and conversion of a Grade II* Church in Leeds, next to Damian’s old high school. The proposal for an illuminated bronze clad volume overlooking the city centre was granted unanimous planning approval with the support of English Heritage and The Victorian Society. The accompanying new building and landscape proposals were inspired by the work of the artist Rachel Whiteread and the Abbey’s of Yorkshire. One of his favourite London buildings is the Young Vic.
