2024 Review
As 2024 comes to an end, we reflect on an exciting and transformative year at DLA. This year marked several milestones, including a brand refresh with a new website and logo, launched in time for UKREiiF. Alongside this, we successfully completed several impactful projects:
- Notably our tallest completed building to date, TriBeka a 20-storey 514-bed student accommodation scheme located in the heart of Leeds City Centre – one of the first commercial developments connected to the Leeds District Heating System.
- 96 The Broadway Wimbledon – Phase 1: Delivered 121 homes for the homeless, with Phase 2 underway, adding 135 homes to the scheme.
We introduced a new practice sector at RESI – ‘Blended Living’, central to two major regeneration projects in London that are currently in planning:
The Original Electric Works, Woolwich: A visionary refurbishment and redevelopment comprising:
- 918 PBSA (Purpose-Built Student Accommodation) beds.
- 420 co-living units.
- 93 affordable homes (70% social rent, 30% shared ownership).
- A new children’s nursery.
- Retention and refurbishment of the historic Electric Works.
Riverside Approach, Barnet: An innovative, community-driven residential scheme developed in collaboration with Bouygues UK and Barnet Council. Supporting sustainability and inclusivity, the scheme features:
- 359 homes, including 177 affordable units.
- A state-of-the-art Library.
- A new children’s nursery and employment services building.
- Community amenities such as a café, co-working spaces, and a public park.
- Sustainable landscaping, play areas, and public realm enhancements.
In Further Education, Local MP Daisy Cooper proudly launched the New Construction and Engineering Building at Oaklands College. This innovative teaching facility provides students with a real-world learning environment, integrating the exposed construction methodologies used to build the college to serve as a daily teaching tool.
Our team has grown in response to a robust pipeline of projects, with targeted recruitment and promotions across our Leeds, London, and Manchester studios. Group Board Director Andrew Hargreaves commented:
“As we approach key milestones—our 21st year in London and our 47th year in Yorkshire and the North in 2025—we consulted with our Next Generation leaders to help shape the future of our practice. We are thrilled to announce these promotions and growth as part of an exciting new era for our talented team. This strategic development reflects DLA’s commitment to nurturing talent and preparing for the future.”
Finally, we’re delighted to announce that we are nearing completion of Leeds’ Hyatt Place, a 305-key hotel set to open in Spring 2025.
We wish you a joyful festive season and look forward to an equally exciting 2025.
