FIELD HOUSE : DEWSBURY

These proposals offer the investment opportunity to revitalise and bring back into sustainable use a currently vacant and neglected listed building, as a catalyst to encourage the further regeneration of Dewsbury town centre.

The proposals have been designed to alter perceptions of the town by explicitly demonstrating positive change in a prominent location, announcing this significant regeneration project to all. The scheme will create a positive sense of arrival to Dewsbury, complementing and animating the new high-quality public realm at the railway station forecourt.

The proposed uses will create new vibrant, active frontages at ground floor level, spilling out onto the public realm, and provide new dwellings above to promote the living town concept and encourage heritage house ownership.

To unlock the potential of Field House these proposals have been carefully developed to balance the sensitivities of working with a prominent heritage asset with the ambition to create an emblematic symbol of regeneration and the arrest of decline. The residential mix of generously proportioned one, two and three bedroom dwellings is designed to cater for a wide variety of households, including families, to encourage the development of a stable and sustainable community.

The refurbishment and re-use of Field House will help reinforce the main objectives of the Dewsbury Heritage Action Zone and will provide a continuum of regeneration projects in the town centre.
