Laura Camarena
Architect
- Location London
Laura is a qualified architect who studied across Madrid, Louvain-la-Neuve and Shanghai before settling in London, where she has developed her career. She has worked on a range of sectors including masterplanning, residential and healthcare, contributing from early concepts through to detailed delivery.
She has a particular interest in design and buildability, with a strong enthusiasm for BIM. Laura enjoys turning conceptual ideas into clear, well-detailed architectural solutions that work as well on site as they do on paper.
Coming from a family of makers, Laura always knew she wanted to do something creative. She has long enjoyed drawing, working with her hands, and tackling daily challenges by DIY-ing her way out of them – an approach that continues to shape the way she engages with architecture.
Outside the studio, you could find Laura in a museum, a stationery shop, cooking in her kitchen or getting her hands dirty in her local community garden. Choosing a favourite building is no easy task, but the Barbican tops the list: bold vision, social ambition and material robustness, a place to always come back.
