01 Overview
Located in the London Borough of Hounslow, the development creates high quality homes, with all units designated as affordable homes, featuring a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom apartments.
The project required the preservation and restoration of an existing Art Deco façade and demolition of the remaining structures to make way for a new five to seven-storey building comprising of 76 residential homes and 138 square metres of flexible industrial, research and development, or office space.
02 Context
The site, formerly a disused industrial building, presented an excellent opportunity for regeneration as a brownfield site. It integrated with the emerging residential context of the Brentford Lock Masterplan.
03 Design Approach
The architectural design of the elevations was carefully crafted to transition from the historic warehouse context at the front to the evolving masterplan context at the rear, characterised by a pitched roof. The overarching aim was to ensure a seamless and harmonious integration of the new development with both the existing and emerging elements of the surroundings.
