Saturday 20 July – Sunday 4 August 2019
Once again DLA Design are teaming up with Leeds Art Gallery and Leeds City Council to create a fun intervention in Victoria Gardens, during the Yorkshire Sculpture International festival, for everyone to enjoy this summer.
This year our team is working in collaboration with Stage One Ltd through the design and implementation process. The seed for this project was sown back in 2015 when we created a modest temporary ‘parklet’ transforming an ordinary parking space into an inner city sanctuary located outside our Leeds office. In 2016 this concept grew into a self initiated project when we installed a more ambitious pocket park and collaborated with our neighbours to think about the future design of St Paul’s Street. In the following years this expanded into an exciting collaboration with Leeds Art Gallery and Leeds Council to encourage people to re-imagine our public realm introducing an opportunity to play in the city.
In 2019 Hatch Projects will be programming free family friendly and fun activities that will re-imagine the space with a focus on sculpture. The space will be open daily from 10am-4pm when visitors can take part in workshops on digital making, jet-pack creation, sculpting with clay and experience the Playful Anywhere wonder dome in all its glory.
