James Cooper

Technical Director

James, an Architect at our London studio, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our team. He graduated from The University of Brighton with a degree in 2004 and a diploma in 2009, followed by earning his Part 3 qualification from Kingston University in 2010.

With extensive experience in both architecture and project management, he has successfully handled complex refurbishment projects and new builds. He re-joined DLA Architecture in 2023, where his keen eye for detail is invaluable in navigating new legislation and addressing challenging project aspects.

Possessing meticulous attention to detail James thrives on collaborating with others to create truly exceptional results. He firmly believes that investing time in the early phases of a project yields significant benefits during construction and technical approvals. James is always willing to assist on any project to ensure a seamless process.

His extensive experience in project management, technical design, and delivery, positions James well in his CDM Principal Designer responsibilities, and the new duties introduced by the Building Safety Act.

Heading up the London studio’s technical team he is dedicated to enhancing our workflows to ensure we deliver exceptional service to our clients.

Passionate about staying active, he has a love for both mountain biking and kitesurfing. Since welcoming a young family, he has found joy in combining his hobbies with family time, often taking his children biking through the forest trails near their home.

In addition to these outdoor pursuits, James is dedicated to improving his fitness through training and competition in CrossFit and, more recently, dabbling in triathlons.
