Neil Matthews

Director

Neil is a Chartered, award winning Architect and Director at DLA, having joined in 2005. He is experienced in design, sustainability, and collaborative working, with a particular passion for working with existing buildings.

He leads the Workplace sector in the London studio and co-manages the studio with Chris Levett. Over the last 20 years he has developed a detailed understanding of the sector and has an in-depth knowledge that clients often draw upon, time and time again. A dedicated problem solver and an excellent team leader with a particular passion for holistic design, utilising new technology to improve working practices, transfer of information and overall quality across the construction industry. He also has a keen eye for interiors, and is interested in the use of traditional natural materials in new ways.

Alongside successfully managing clients and complex projects, key achievements include building the workplace sector in our London studio and the implementation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) across the practice, working on projects that have received national and research awards.

He has designed and built his own highly sustainable home by adapting a tired 1930 dwelling. Neil is also a closet carpenter, making many items in his purpose made workshop. Enjoys all racket sports with a new found love of Padel Tennis and recently has just taken up Triathlons as well as enjoying long walks to the pub with his family.
